Rebecca – missing?
http://rebeccamusical.co.uk/21/rebecca-missing/
Rebecca, the musical which is taking to the London stage next year is not the first attempt at putting the story to music. Back in 2004 there was an Australian version written by Victor Kazan with music by Kevin Purcell. Purcell worked for Cameron Mackintosh and Andrew Lloyd-Webber in the 1990s and had hopes that their version would get backing. Their production attempted to recreate the sinister atmosphere of the book but in stark contrast to all other versions they actually cast someone to play the ghost of Rebecca. Rebecca - the film version It will come as no surprise, and can hardly be described as a spoiler, to remind you that in the book and the film Rebecca herself never appears. She’s there only in the way others talk about her, her house full of her personal possessions and of course her painting. Any ghost is strictly in our and the new Mrs de Winter’s imagination. It’s part of the power of the plot that we spend quite a lot of the time waiting for something supernatural to happen. Meanwhile tension and atmosphere build up and frightens us far more than any trickery or an onstage ghost ever could. Here’s a little taste of the evil Mrs Danvers from the Austrian production:

Love Never Dies Changes in November
http://www.loveneverdiesphantom.co.uk/love-never-dies/love-never-dies-changes-in-november
Love Never Dies is closing for four days in London from Monday 22nd to Thursday 25th November so that a number of changes can be made. Performances will then resume again on Friday 26th November. The reason for these drastic measures is to bring about what really amounts to a restaging of the show, with Bill Kenwright as the new Director and Bill Deamer the Choreographer instead of Jack O’Brien and Jerry Mitchell. Love Never Dies in London has also just extended its booking period by another two months at the Adelphi Theatre in London’s West End to 28th May 2011. Love Never Dies heads for Australia in May 2011 premiering in Melbourne’s Regent Theatre.

Musical Theatre News: Love Never Dies Australian premiere in Melbourne in May 2011
http://theatreinlondon.blogspot.com/2010/10/musical-theatre-news-love-never-dies.html
Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Love Never Dies will have its Australian premiere in Melbourne’s Regent Theatre in May 2011. Lloyd Webber said the Australian production will have its own unique stamp, produced by his Asia Pacific representative Tim McFarlane and directed by Melbourne’s Simon Phillips with a new design by Sydney based Gabriela Tylesova. Nationwide auditions will begin on Monday October 25th - the same day tickets go on sale through Ticketmaster. Ramin Karimloo who is playing the Phantom in Love Never Dies at London's Adelphi Theatre recently announced that he will be leaving the show next year (no date yet fixed) to join the show when it opens in Toronto which is meant to be the pre-Broadway stop over. Maybe he'll now be heading for Melbourne?via wwwmusicaltheatrenews.blogspot.com Part speculation, but I doubt if Ramin Karimloo is doing the Autralian opening so soon before being committed to the Toronto production of Love Never Dies Posted via email from Love Never Dies

Love Never Dies London

Love Never Dies London Extension While waiting to see what’s happening with the planned transfer of Love Never Dies to Broadway, the show in London has announced an extension with booking now available for tickets until March 2011. Love Never Dies had been announced for a Broadway opening this spring with London leads Sierra Boggess and Ramin Karimloo transferring to the Neil Simon Theatre, currently showing a Beatles Tribute show. But US reports say the British musical’s arrival this season is now very unlikely, so perhaps this freed up the stars to extend the London production. Love Never Dies with a new set and production has been mooted for Australia and then Toronto, before Broadway now. It seemed that some of the key people working on the Broadway production have defected to another show entirely, such is the musical theatre business! Neil Simon Theatre - not for Love Never Dies
