Peter Andre to Star in Ghost?
http://ghostlondon.com/86/peter-andre-to-star-in-ghost/
Peter Andre in Ghost? There is a rumour going round that Peter Andre is taking over the role of Sam in Ghost the Musical in London’s West End. It is NOT confirmed but it is all over the internet. Can it be true? And if so is it a good thing? I must admit I am hoping it is not true. I think the show is settling down nicely with the current cast. I know that shows like Chicago have done very well out of bring in celebrity guest stars but that’s in much lesser roles than Sam. My guess, that the smaller rumour is likely to be true. It has been suggested that Peter Andre will play Sam for ONE night only and the show will be recorded for Children in Need. Now that might be fun! Update – now confirmed Peter will be playing Sam at Piccadilly Theatre on 14th September. The performance will be filmed as a special for this year’s Children In Need in November.

Ghost London Stars – Caissie Levy
http://ghostlondon.com/75/caissie-levy/
As well as Sharon D Clarke Ghost has a great female lead, the rather wonderful Caissie Levy. Caissie plays Molly Jensen, very much the heroine of the musical and a role that calls for both a good voice and strong acting abilities. Caissie, pronounced Casey, is originally Canadian. She originally intended to have a career in the straight theatre but luckily for musical theatre she auditioned for the American Musical and Dramatic Academy and was accepted. a strong, slightly jazzy voice, with a smooth quality…. Caissie Levy "With You" You can hear Cassie’s voice and support a great charity at the same time by treating yourself to the new charity single charity of “With You” in aid of Stand Up to Cancer. (Buy “With You” on Amazon for only 79p) I saw Cassie on the West End stage last year when Hair came came to town. She was a shining star in the show with a great voice that rang out in some of the classic Hair numbers. Her performance of Good Morning Starshine is gorgeous and can be found on the Hair Cast CD. She showed her acting skills that night too and I found her performance as the idealistic Sheila very touching. I’d love to have seen Caissie as Elphaba in Wicked, a role she played in LA and on Broadway. She has a strong, slightly jazzy voice, with a smooth quality. Lovely for a song like Defying Gravity. Elphaba is a role that takes huge stamina, a great voice and acting ability. I’m sure Caissie learned a lot from Wicked that will help her in her performance in Ghost. Caissie will have plenty of opportunity to show us both her voice and her acting skills playing Molly and I really want to see her soon. How about you?

Ghost at West End Live
http://ghostlondon.com/49/ghost-at-west-end-live/
Ghost really wowed the crowd at West End Live today. The London audience got their first glimpse of Ghost today. It started with the Ghost video trailer that I’ve featured before up on the big screens, where it looked much more impressive than it does on Youtube! I think the production team were very canny, introducing the musical with the great voice of Sharon D Clarke. Sharon asked us to “believe” and I don’t think there were many doubters in the audience by the time she’d finished with us! It was a great performance from Sharon and the dancers and it went down really well with the crowd. She got a great atmosphere going as you can see from this video:

Ghost Musical London
http://ghostlondon.com/41/ghost-musical-london/
Ghost the Musical Comes to London At Last Ghost London Ghost the Musical is nearly here. It opens on June 24th at the Piccadilly Theatre, London. The team are already busy getting set up for the London opening. The date has been delayed to the 24th from the 22nd to give more time for the technical set-up. Ghost has some amazing illusions and technical wizardry that will take quite a bit of tweaking to set up in the new venue. It will be so worth it though. Manchester audiences have taken Ghost to their hearts and the last 6 weeks have been a great introduction for the production. Now, however, the really hard work starts. The London pre-views will be crucial in making Ghost into a money-spinning hit on the West End. If they can get this right Ghost has the potential to run for years. Fingers and toes crossed! We’ll get a taste of what Ghost will be like at West End Live later in June but if you can’t wait here’s Cassie Levy singing With You

The Musical version of Ghost, London Theatre Breaks
http://ghostlondon.com/31/the-musical-version-of-ghost-london-theatre-breaks/
The stage musical version of Ghost, is scheduled to open at London’s Piccadilly Theatre on June 22 and is booking initially until January 28 so that holiday period theatre breaks to see Ghost can be booked well in advance. This is going to be a very popular show for all sorts of theatre goers including hen party theatre breaks, romantic theatre breaks and anniversaries. Directed by multi-award-winning Matthew Warchus, Ghost will feature music by Dave Stewart (of Eurythmics fame) and Glen Ballard, writer of Michael Jackson’s hit Man in the Mirror. The production will be designed by Rob Howell, and will feature extraordinary, magical stage effects by Paul Kieve, illusionist for the hit film Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Bruce Joel Rubin has adapted his Oscar-winning screenplay for the stage show which will also feature the unforgettable Righteous Brothers song, Unchained Melody, which featured in the film’s iconic love scene at a potter’s wheel. A story about the power of love, Ghost revolves around a man called Sam, trapped as a ghost between this world and the next. He tries to communicate with girlfriend Molly through a phoney psychic, Oda Mae Brown, in the hope of saving her from his murderer. Richard Fleeshman, recently seen on the London stage playing Warner Huntington III opposite Sheridan Smith in Legally Blonde The Musical, will play Sam in the stage musical. Fleeshman is best known on television for his roles in Coronation Street, in which he played Craig Harris for four years and, more recently, Debbie Horsfield’s All the Small Things for the BBC. Caissie Levy will play Molly. She has most recently been seen on stage on Broadway and in the West End in the leading role of Sheila in the New York Public Theatre Cameron Mackintosh production of Hair. Levy made her Broadway debut as Penny Pingleton in Hairspray, a role she recreated on tour in the US. She went on to play Maureen Johnson in the US tour of Rent and in 2008 starred as the green witch Elphaba in the Los Angeles production of Wicked. Sharon D Clarke, who will play Oda Mae Brown, has most recently been seen on stage in the West End as Motormouth Maybelle in Hairspray at the Shaftesbury Theatre. She has played Mama Morton in Chicago at London’s Adelphi and Killer Queen in We Will Rock You at the Dominion. Ghost, the highest grossing film in the UK in 1990, was directed by Jerry Zucker.

Theatre Breaks in London for 2011
http://theatrebreaksinlondon.co.uk/107/theatre-breaks-in-london-for-2011/
Two Shows for Theatre Breaks In London 2011 I’m going to suggest two shows that I think will be very popular for theatre breaks in London by the end of 2011. The first has already been mentioned in passing at the end of the previous post about New Season Theatre Breaks in London and that show is The Wizard of Oz. The new musical of The Wizard of Oz just has so many things going for it that it’s hard to see how it can fail. The first thing is the timeless popularity of the film and the book and all of the amateur and professional adaptations of the Wizard of Oz that have been produced over the years. Building on a heritage such as this is unadventurous, sure but it gives the venture a head a shoulders start. The next cunning ploy was to use a TV casting show to gain loads of pre-publicity and to guarantee that you already have a star who the public adores! That star is Danielle Hope and she shone through with a wonderful natural talent in all departments despite being up against a host of really high quality competitors. In fact the Dorothy who came a close second, Sophie Evans is set to play Dorothy as understudy every Tuesday, so it’s two TV selected Dorothy stars for the price of one. Well, it would be for the price of two if you wanted to book theatre breaks in London to see both of them, but you know what I mean. Just being an Andrew Lloyd Webber production is another huge factor in the show’s favour, but this is more than that since it’s the reunion of the formidable music and lyrics team of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber no less. Tim Rice is writing the lyrics for about four new songs including one for, wait for it….. Michael Crawford. Casting Michael Crawford as the Wizard has to be the piece de la resistance but there could well be more. Who will be the Tin Man, Scarecrow or the cowardly Lion? Ghost London Theatre Breaks
Ghost London Musical The second show is one you may not have heard of yet, but rest assured you will have done by 2011. It’s Ghost the Musical, an adaptation of Ghost the movie, but with a solid rock music soundtrack supplied by Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics. Another film to stage adaptation, Ghost London is sure to be a hot ticket in 2011. Dates for Ghost And Wizard of Oz Theatre Breaks in London Theatre breaks in London to see The Wizard of Oz can be booked for dates from March 2011 while Ghost will arrive in London for theatre breaks from June 2011 after a run in the Manchester Opera House first.
